Columbus is doing fine, but as someone who grew up there, I really don't feel compelled to go back. I think Cleveland has the most potential for new urbanists and such....Columbus is too much of an amalgamation of suburbs, although it's trying. I suppose that would attract families.

As for its other issues, the main problem (in my opinion) is the governor, who really hasn't done much to improve the state's condition. He claims he is, but he's clearly not helping the situation.

Thanks, schmange. Most of my high school friends and long gone and some of my college friends have given up looking for careers in Cleveland. As soon as they find something, they will be gone too. It's pretty depressing.

Awesome job, Rob. You are exactly right. One of the hardest parts about living in Ohio, I think, is having your friends move away.

I have close friends in New York, Australia, Florida, New Orleans, San Francisco, Seattle and South Carolina.

Why can't they all just move to the same place?

On a related note, The New York Times recently tracked in- and out-migration to and from NYC:

http://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2009/06/14/nyregion/0614-migration.html?ref=nyregion

Clearly, all major Midwestern metros (Chicago included) continue to lose more residents to NYC than vice versa. Not surprising, I suppose.
