The Story of a Single House in Youngstown

25 June 2012 No Comment

I think this is the coolest thing we’ve had on Rust Wire in a long time. The filmmaker, guy by the name of D Jones, sent me this. It shows how in four generations a house family house went from a source of pride and investment to abandoned — and not for lack of affection. In a way, it’s emblematic of Youngstown’s rise and fall, and the roller coaster ride on which it took many of its residents.

These little, personal tragedies are what’s often lost in the bad job reports, in the Census data, in the shop closings. But somehow they are harder to take. Great stuff.

You should like this film on Facebook.
