Founder of anti-virus company McAfee jailed for tax evasion and fraud

American technology entrepreneur and antivirus guru John McAfee hanged himself in his prison cell on Wednesday. His lawyer Javier Villalbas said that a Spanish court had approved the extradition of John McAfee to the United States and that he had taken that step since then.

John McAfee had the option of appealing the charges against him, but he could not remain in prison for long. The jail authorities are currently trying to ascertain the cause of his death. Before launching the world’s first commercial antivirus in 1987, McAfee worked with organizations such as NASA, Xerox, and Lockheed Martin. He sold his software company to Intel in 2011 and is no longer involved in the business. Although his name is still associated with the software and it has 500 million users worldwide.

John McAfee, 75, is known for his bizarre behavior and videos. He was charged with tax evasion in Tennessee. He was also accused of cryptocurrency fraud in New York. He was arrested at the Barcelona airport in October 2020.

He also tweeted on 15 October 2020 saying, ‘I am imprisoned here. Here is my friend. good to eat. “All right. If I hang myself, it won’t be my fault.”
