US approves re-look at H-1B applications rejected last year

Washington, DT

The US has allowed some foreign workers to reapply for H-1B visas. However, according to the federal agency, non-immigrant visa applications, which are the most sought after among Indian IT professionals, are allowed to reapply for H-1B visas only if it is granted on the basis of the initial registration period. has been cancelled. The H-1B visa enables US companies to hire foreign technical experts for specific tasks.

According to the US Citizen and Immigration Services (USCIS), only foreign professionals whose applications have been rejected since October 1, 2020, are allowed to reapply. However, these professionals will have to reapply before October 1, 2021. If their applications are submitted properly, we will consider that the application has been filed on the original receipt date. Technology companies in the US hire thousands of workers every year from countries like India and China on H-1B visas.

The government took the decision after the powerful US Chambers of Commerce launched a campaign to fill the acute shortage of skilled and professional workforce in the US. As part of the US Works campaign launched by the US Chamber of Commerce earlier this month, the demand for H-1B quotas has increased, which currently stands at 7,000 in the US and 30,000 in the US.

In 2020, USCIS began the electronic registration process for the H-1B cap. Subject to the H-1B application limit, potential applicants must first register their application electronically and pay an H-1B registration fee of US 10 to each beneficiary.

According to USCIS, the number of applications filed during the initial filing period for fiscal year 2021 is lower than estimated and needs to be quantified. This discrepancy is due to a number of factors, including the economic, political and public health uncertainty created by the coronavirus pandemic. In addition, the number of applications is expected to drop this year, as the United States first introduced electronic registration in fiscal 2021.

“That’s why we selected additional reserves in August 2020,” USCIS said. The filing deadline for selected registrations in August 2020 was November 15, 2020. Some applicants who applied after October 1, 2020 were rejected on the grounds that they were submitted during the initial registration period.
