MPs appeal to stop deportation of two lakh Indians in America

(PTI) Washington, Ta. 26

Prominent US lawmakers have called on the Biden administration to take steps to stop the deportation of more than 200,000 young Indians. Significantly, these two lakh youth are mostly children of H-1B visa holders.

Nine lawmakers, led by prominent US lawmaker Deborah Ross and Indian-American lawmaker Dr. Bera, have written to Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Alejandro Mayox.

The letter requested that these Indian youth, who had spent their childhood and adolescence in the United States, reside in the United States as dependents. This young man is known as a document dreamer.

The letter urges youths facing extradition to stay in the United States. Trump canceled the DAC program launched by Obama to prevent deportation to the United States as a minor.

In the US, children still dependent on their parents’ visas are young and their parents have been waiting for green cards for years.
