Indian wicketkeeper-batsman Ishaan Kish has started his ODI career with a bang. In the first ODI against Sri Lanka on Sunday, he played an improvised innings of 59 runs in 42 balls. With the help of which India easily crossed the target of 263 runs given by Sri Lanka. Kishan was determined from the beginning that he would hit a six off the first ball.
In a post-match conversation with Yuzvendra Chahal’s ‘Chahal TV’, 23-year-old Kish said that before going out to bat, he told his teammates that he would hit a six off the first ball. Wherever the bowler bowls, he will hit sixes.
I thought luck was on my side. Today was my birthday and I did 50 overs of wicketkeeping. I knew the spinners didn’t get much help. So I felt this was the best time to hit a six off the first ball. “I told my teammates that they would hit the first ball anywhere and anywhere but I would hit sixes on the first ball,” Kish said.
Ishan Kishan’s international debut has been great. He also scored a half-century in his first international T20 match. He batted brilliantly in the ODIs against Sri Lanka and later scored an unbeaten 86 by captain Shikhar Dhawan to help India win the match by 263 for three in 36.4 overs.
