The 2020 Olympics began today in Tokyo, the capital of Japan. Today was the opening ceremony of this epic of the game. Indian soldiers also participated in the ceremony. Veteran women’s boxer MC Mary Kom and men’s hockey team captain Manpreet Singh became the flag bearers and led the Indian team. Both the players were moving forward with the tricolor in their hands.

Sports Minister Anurag Thakur enjoyed the opening ceremony sitting at Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium on Friday. He was accompanied by former players and personalities from various fields who were present in Tokyo to cheer for the Indian contingent.

The opening ceremony was attended by 22 players and six officials. The team consisted of one hockey player, eight boxers, four table tennis players, two rowing players, one gymnastics and one swimming player, four rowing players and one fencing player.

A team of 127 Indian athletes has left for the Tokyo Olympics. As always, the number of female players is increasing. This time 56 women athletes will take part in the Olympics.
