The five-match Test series between India and England will start from next month. Shubman Gill, Avesh Khan and Washington have been ruled out of the series due to injury. Prithvi Shaw and Suryakumar Yadav will join the Test squad in England. While openers Shubman Gill, Washington Sundar and Avesh Khan are out of the tour.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) said on Monday that Gill, Sundar and Avesh Khan were injured ahead of the five-Test series against England. The board also said that wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant has recovered from Corona and will play in the series.
All-rounder Washington Sundar has been ruled out of the series due to a finger injury. Sundar made an injection in the bowling finger of his right hand. Fast bowler Avesh Khan injured his left thumb on the first day of the practice match. The board said in a statement that he was subjected to an X-ray which showed that he had a fracture.
Opener Shubman Gill was injured during the final of the World Test Championship. He had a strain in the lower part of his left leg, due to which he missed the tour. Shubman Gill has returned to India.
The board further said that wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant has recovered from Kovid-19. His two RT-PCR tests came back negative. After getting the approval of the BCCI medical team, he has started preparing for the Test series.
