Stripper Hired for Grandma’s 90th Birthday Party Has Internet in Hysterics

Whether you’re 10 years old or 50, milestone birthdays are a cause for celebration. Every family has a different approach to commemorating special occasions, and one family’s saucy surprise for their grandma’s 90th birthday has the internet in stitches.

In a post to Reddit‘s r/funny forum on August 22, user u/jenglish2015 shared a snap from his grandma’s birthday extravaganza.

The poster had booked a stripper—complete with a thong—for the occasion, who can be seen with his crotch pointing towards the birthday girl’s face.

$20.37 an Hour

Not just a hilarious prank, jenglish2015 may have helped a struggling stripper to make a living. Like other sex workers, the pandemic limited strippers’ earning ability, with many performers moving their services online.

OnlyFans reported seven times the number of transactions in 2021, reaching $1.7 billion in total. Restrictions might be over, but exotic dancers are still struggling to make ends meet, with clients reluctant to spend on dances due to recession fears.

According to Pay Scale, strippers make $20.37 an hour on average in the U.S. Mid-career strippers with five to nine years of experience make the most money, with an average of $25.44 an hour, while entry-level strippers make the least, at $19.80 an hour.

There is very little research on the subject, but industry insiders report a steep wage gap between male and female strippers. Exotic Chicago Strippers, which provides exotic dancers for private parties and events, say their male strippers make roughly $25 less an hour than their female performers.

The agency says the discrepancy is largely due to less demand for male strippers, but tipping also plays a part. It’s rare for male strippers to exceed $50 a night in tips, whereas women can earn over $1,000.

‘Nan’s Impressed’

Reddit users couldn’t get enough of the prank, with the post receiving almost 72,000 upvotes and 1,700 comments at the time of writing.

“Nan’s impressed,” wrote Shadowedcreations.

“Looks like she almost had a stroke…but she couldn’t quite reach,” joked yurglemyflurgle.

“She’s horrified but still has eyes on the prize,” said davtheminer.

Put_It_All_On_Black hoped the grandma got revenge on the poster, writing: “On your birthday I hope she gets one of her 90-year-old friends to strip for you.”

While BeautyGoesToBenidorm said: “Awww this made me smile—my 99yo Nan died a couple of weeks ago, and she specifically asked me to make sure she had strippers for pallbearers at her funeral. Sadly my mother vetoed this!”

Newsweek has reached out to u/jenglish2015 for comment. We could not verify the details of the case.

Although this grandma seemed to enjoy her surprise, a similar stripping situation didn’t have such a happy ending. In 2019, a grandmother sued British male dance show Dreamboys after claiming she sustained a “permanent eye injury” during a show in 2014.

Merle Groenewald said she was hit in the eye after a troupe of “sexy firemen” whipped their underwear off and lobbed them into the crowd. The 58-year-old required surgery and suffers vision loss in her left eye.
